Mein Schiff - a long-term partnership

Ardor supplied prefabricated piping for all six vessels in the Mein Schiff series, built at Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku. The series represents one of our largest single shipbuilding piping deliveries and demonstrates a long-term partnership with the shipyard and its system integrators. Ardor's strength in the series was volume management: large delivery quantities produced in controlled factory conditions, on schedule, serving both the shipyard's direct procurement and its system integrators.

Vessel details and deliveries

Mein Schiff 3 - first vessel in the series

The first vessel in any series is always a challenge — schedules are tight and processes are still taking shape. Ardor delivered quickly and to quality. The vessel was built for TUI Cruises at Meyer Turku shipyard.

Mein Schiff 4, 5 and 6

Once trust had been earned and the process refined, we supplied prefabricated piping for the subsequent vessels built at the Turku shipyard. A large share of the piping in these projects was ordered directly by the shipyard, but system integrator orders were also significant. In the final project, the shipyard's direct purchases accounted for more than half, while Europlan's orders were nearly as large. The project was completed in 2017.

Mein Schiff 1 (new, 2018)

TUI Cruises' second-newest vessel in the series was delivered from Meyer Turku in April 2018. According to Meyer, the vessel was the fifth new cruise ship for the operator, with the entire fleet built in Turku. The ship was designed to be up to 10 percent more energy-efficient than its predecessor — and included some notable passenger features, among them a 400-metre running track developed on the basis of passenger feedback.

Mein Schiff 2 (new, 2019)

The newest vessel in the series departed on its maiden voyage from Turku in early 2019. Ardor delivered a record volume of prefabricated piping — nearly half of it for Meyer Turku's own installation work. The vessel is 315 metres long with a passenger capacity of approximately 3,100.

Background on the series:

Mein Schiff 1 and 2 were originally older vessels built elsewhere. Meyer Turku began newbuilding for TUI Cruises with Mein Schiff 3 in 2014, making it the first delivery for the Turku shipyard — and for Ardor. The original 1 and 2 were later replaced by new vessels of the same name in 2018 and 2019, hence the term "new" Mein Schiff 1 and 2.
